Description
3D ACA® 500 X-Tra Cut Compound — Body Shop Safe Paint Correction Compound
Water-based, body shop safe paint correction compound built for fast cutting and low heat. Levels ceramic clear coats, single-stage paint, sanding marks, oxidation, and water spots in a fraction of the time of traditional compounds.
Product Overview
3D ACA 500 X-Tra Cut Compound is a professional-grade paint correction compound built around ALPHA CERAMIC ALUMINA, a proprietary abrasive engineered for high-speed, low-heat leveling. It’s formulated to correct even today’s hardest ceramic clear coats, as well as softer OEM and single-stage finishes — cutting through 1000-grit sanding marks, deep scratches, oxidation, and water spots to leave a true showroom-level finish in less time than traditional compounds.
This is a low-VOC, Body Shop Safe (BSS) formula, which means it’s built to meet the standards body shops require without sacrificing cutting power. Because it’s water-based, cleanup is fast and there’s no oily residue or heavy dusting to deal with. It performs well in shaded bays but is also sun-friendly, giving both body shops and mobile detailers flexibility on where and how they work.

Why Hot Wax Garage Chose 3D for Our Paint Correction Line
Choosing the right paint correction brand isn’t something we took lightly. There are countless compound and polish brands on the market, and just as much noise online promoting them. Plenty of big companies push their installers and techs toward products made by sister companies, marketing them as the best option regardless of whether that’s actually true. On social media, almost any product can be made to look like a miracle worker with the right editing and lighting.
So instead of researching online — where the loudest, most sponsored products always seem to win — we spent over three years doing it the old-fashioned way: face-to-face conversations with detailers, techs, and body shop owners who had no brand affiliations or obligations to push any particular product. Across all of those unplanned, unbiased conversations, one name kept coming up as a compound people genuinely trusted to get the job done: 3D.
We weren’t chasing trends or watching what was on sale on the major platforms. We wanted to stand behind a line of paint correction products we could feel confident selling — products that live up to the hype instead of just riding it. With over 35 years of hands-on detailing experience, our goal at Hot Wax Garage is simple: bring our customers compounds and polishes that save time, protect the paint, and deliver a professional-grade result every time — without the guesswork. 3D also closes the gap between body shop and detail shop workflows, letting both use the same trusted product line to reach a true showroom or show-car finish.
Once we made our decision, we didn’t stop at just carrying a few products — we built out one of the largest selections of 3D products on the East Coast. Every product we carry from this line has proven itself on the market, giving our customers the confidence that whatever they pick up from Hot Wax Garage is going to perform.
