Keep the Pad Clean
A small 3 inch wool pad clogs up fast. The compound only has a 3″ area to sit on, and you tend to work at a slower pace, so clogging happens faster and easier.
Always keep a spare dry pad nearby, along with a Vortex II Dry Air Cleaning Gun or a Vortex JR V-050 Dry Air Cleaning Gun and a spray bottle filled with water. Mist the pad, then blow it dry. While one pad is air drying, pick up your second pad. For the best results, always keep your pad clean.
