The 3D 3.5″ Light Purple Foam Pad is the medium polishing pad in 3D’s three-pad system, sized for mirrors, pillars, bumpers, and other tight areas where a 6.5″ pad won’t fit. Use it as the second step after compounding, or on its own for a one-step polish, with a 6.5″ size also available for full panels. It’s sold as a 2-pack, so a clean pad is always ready.
How the 3.5″ Light Purple Foam Pad Works
The spider-cut face flexes open as the pad spins. Polish works down into the cuts instead of sitting on top, which gives you longer working time and a more even finish.
That same flex pulls air through the pad. The 3.5″ Light Purple Foam Pad runs cooler and keeps working longer before it needs cleaning.
One Light Purple Foam Pad, Three Jobs
This Light Purple Foam Pad handles light cutting, medium polishing, and fine finishing just by changing the product. For light cutting, pair it with a 3D compound or 3D 505 Correction Glaze.
For normal polishing, or final polishing on harder paint, use 3D AAT 502, 3D ACA 510, 3D ONE, or 3D SPEED. For a one-step correction, the Light Purple Foam Pad with SPEED or 505 does the job in a single pass.
What the Foam Is Built For
3D tunes its foam chemistry for durability and resistance to heat and chemicals, not just softness. The cell walls hold their shape under hard work, so the Light Purple Foam Pad performs the same from the first panel to the last.
When to Use the 3.5″ Light Purple Foam Pad
In a multi-step job, it’s the second step, after a cutting pad and compound have taken out the heavy defects. Follow the 3D 3.5″ Dark Purple Foam Cutting Pad with this pad to refine the finish, then step down to the 3D 3.5″ Black Foam Finishing Pad for the final gloss.
It fits a 3″ backing plate and works on any polisher: rotary, long-stroke, short-stroke, free-spinning, and gear-driven. Keep the pad clean between panels, since dried polish in the foam can mark the paint on your next pass.
