The 3D 3.5″ Black Foam Finishing Pad is a soft spider-cut pad for the last step of paint correction, sized for mirrors, pillars, bumpers, and tight body lines where a 6.5″ pad won’t fit. A 6.5″ size is also available for full panels. It’s sold as a 2-pack, so a clean pad is always ready. Keep both pads in your kit for the small areas a bigger pad can’t reach.

Run your hand over a clean, dry pad and you’ll feel how soft the foam is. That soft face gives little to no cut, depending on the polish and the paint, so it refines the surface instead of digging into it.

Which Polish to Use With the Black Foam Finishing Pad

Changing the product changes the job, from very light polishing to a very fine finish. For a light cut or the final flawless gloss, use 3D AAT 502, 3D ACA 520, 3D ONE, or 3D SPEED. Pick the polish based on how much gloss the paint still needs.

When to Use the 3.5″ Black Foam Finishing Pad

In a multi-step job, it’s the last pass. Cut with the 3D 3.5″ Dark Purple Foam Cutting Pad, polish with the 3D 3.5″ Light Purple Foam Pad, then finish with the Black Foam Finishing Pad. If the polishing step already gives you the look you want, the finishing step is optional.

It fits a 3″ backing plate and works on any polisher: rotary, long-stroke, short-stroke, free-spinning, and gear-driven. Keep one pad from the 2-pack just for finishing, so no leftover compound mars the final pass. Clean the pad between panels, since dried polish in the foam can mark the paint on your next pass.
