3D ACA 510 Premium Rubbing Compound for Hard Clear Coats

3D ACA 510 Premium Rubbing Compound is step 1 of 3D’s two-step ACA paint correction system, built to cut hard clear coats fast. Along with 3D ACA 500, it’s one of the premier compounds body shops choose to work with. It takes out P1000 sanding marks and finer, along with deep swirls, heavy oxidation, and other serious defects, then hands the panel to 3D ACA 520 Finishing Polish for the final gloss. 3D formulated 510 specifically to be used with either a wool pad or a foam cutting pad. 3D ACA 510 comes in 8 oz, 32 oz, and 1-gallon sizes.

The cutting power comes from 3D’s own Alpha Ceramic Alumina (ACA) abrasive, an aluminum oxide that 3D makes in-house. It levels the paint at high speed while keeping surface temperatures lower than ordinary compounds, which matters on a fresh repaint. The formula is water-based, silicone-free, and filler-free, and it contains no OSHA-regulated crystalline silica, so it’s safe to use in a body shop around fresh paint. It’s low dusting and wipes off easily, so the bay stays cleaner between jobs.

How to Use 3D ACA 510 Rubbing Compound

Start with a cool, clean panel in the shade. Sand it with the paper of your choice; 3D ACA 510 removes P1000 marks and finer.

For the most cut on a fresh repaint with hard clear, run the 3D 8″ Yellow X-Cut Lambswool Pad on a rotary. For tight curves and small areas the 8″ pad can’t reach, use a 3 inch lambswool pad. For a DA, or for lighter defects, a foam cutting pad such as the 3D 6.5″ Dark Purple Spider-Cut Foam Cutting Pad works well. On a DA, break the pad in at slow speed for about 20 seconds, then move up to your working speed.

Apply a few dime-sized drops to the pad and work a 2′ x 2′ section with slow, overlapping passes, keeping the pad flat on the panel. Wipe the residue off with a clean microfiber towel and inspect the section under a good light.

3D ACA 510 cuts fast. When you’re using a foam pad, clean the face of the pad often with a nylon pad brush so it keeps cutting.

Follow every 510 step with a foam polish step. 3D ACA 520 Finishing Polish on a 3D Black Foam Finishing Pad clears the holograms that wool leaves behind.
