Description
Magna Shine Clay Bar White Fine Cut 100g
The Magna Shine Clay Bar is the gentle clay detailers reach for when the paint only needs a light cleanup. This is our fine-cut, made-in-Japan clay bar, and it’s considered a maintenance and upkeep clay bar. This 100g white clay bar is built for light bonded contamination like road film, light fallout, and the gritty feel that stays on the paint after a wash. It’s a smart pick for newer cars and for regular maintenance claying before a fresh coat of wax or sealant.
Clay works by grabbing whatever is stuck on top of the paint. As the bar glides over a lubricated panel, it pulls bonded particles out of the clear coat and holds them inside the clay, so they don’t get dragged back across the surface. The Magna Shine Clay Bar is the softest of the clay bars we carry, so it cleans the paint without marring it.
Is the Magna Shine Clay Bar the Right Grade for Your Car?
White is a fine cut. For light contamination, always start with the mildest clay bar that gets the job done before going to a more aggressive one. The fine-cut Magna Shine Clay Bar doesn’t mar the paint, so you don’t need to follow it with a one-step polish. Paint correction is only needed if the surface already had swirls or scratches before you clayed it.
If the paint feels rougher than that, step up to the Source Chemical Gray Medium 200g Clay Bar for light to medium contamination, or the Source Chemical Purple Clay Bar 200g Heavy Duty for heavy contamination and overspray. These bars are alternatives for different jobs, not a step-by-step combo, so pick the one that matches how dirty the paint really is.
What makes this one worth keeping in the garage:
- Fine-cut white grade for light bonded contamination
- Cleans the paint without marring it, so there’s no polishing needed afterward
- Great for newer cars and maintenance claying
- Handy 100g size that can be cut into smaller working pieces
- Preps the paint so wax, sealant, or coating bonds better
- Made in Japan, like every clay bar Hot Wax Garage sells
How to Use the Magna Shine Clay Bar
- Wash and dry the car first. 3D Pink Car Wash Soap takes off the loose dirt so the clay only has to deal with what’s bonded. If the paint has iron fallout, spray 3D BDX Iron Remover before you clay.
- Cut the 100g bar in half. Knead one piece into a flat patty about the size of your palm. If a piece hits the ground, throw it away; grit in the clay will scratch the paint.
- Work one small section at a time, about 2 x 2 feet. Spray plenty of lubricant, such as Hi Tech Wax Enhancer & Clay Lube. Never clay a dry panel.
- Glide the Magna Shine Clay Bar back and forth with light pressure and let the clay do the work. When it moves smoothly and quietly, that section is clean.
- Fold the clay to a fresh side whenever it looks dirty, then wipe the section with a clean microfiber towel.
- Protect the clean paint with a wax, sealant, or coating.
Tip: Keep plenty of lube on the panel the whole time. Even with a fine bar like the Magna Shine Clay Bar, more lube means the clay glides easier and picks up more.
If the paint already had swirls or scratches before claying, step up to 3D ONE Hybrid One Step Compound, 3D ACA 500 X-Tra Cut Compound, or 3D ACA 510 Premium Rubbing Compound. For heavier contamination, go with the Source Chemical Gray Medium Clay Bar or the Source Chemical Purple Clay Bar. We only carry clay bars that are made in Japan.
