JAGUAR PROJECT 7

image 3 Hot Wax Garage

If you think the regular Jaguar F-Type is just too plain, well, you’re in luck. An ultra-rare, limited-production Project 7 F Type is up for sale. Compared to a regular F-Type convertible, it has more horsepower, bigger brakes, better suspension, and a Shark Tail behind the driver’s seat, paying tribute to the company’s D-Type race car.
This is the first production-spec F-Type Project 7 we’ve seen pop up for sale in the US. Like many examples, it’s painted in a dark British Green, accented with a stripe across the nose, white lipstick trim around the grille, big white dots on both doors and the rear decklid. All Project 7s come with an extended splitter, a carbon-fiber wing, and huge carbon-ceramic brakes. Thrust comes from a 575-horsepower version of Jaguar’s supercharged 5.0-liter V8, sending torque to just the rear wheels via a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.

Unlike the Project 7 concept car, production cars got two seats instead of just one, and a real cloth convertible top. It has all the amenities of a normal F-Type—it’s just a lot cooler. This Project car only has 72 miles on the odometer, which means the car is still new and most likely the lowest mileage Project 7 for sale in the US.

The sellers at Top Gear Imports in New Jersey claim this Project 7 is one of about 40 examples that made it to the US out of 250 produced in total. Considering the low miles, rarity, and cool factor, 195,000 starts to make sense. It starts to make a little less sense once you compare that number to a V8 F-Type convertible, though. Even a new F Type SVR costs $123,600, this car has the same power output. But if you are a collector or really want to stand out, this is the F-Type to do it in.
