How to Use the Liquid Ozone Odor Elimination Kit

Step 1: Prepare the vehicle (10 minutes). Make sure the carpet and upholstery are completely dry, since moisture can cause bleaching. Park outside in the shade; direct sun makes the tablets react too fast and can cause splattering. Lean the floor mats against the doors, buckle the seat belts, pull down the visors, and close all the windows. Start the vehicle and set the temperature between 60 and 80°F, with the air on recirculate and blowing to the floor.

Step 2: Activate the kit (1 hour). Put on your gloves, cut open the pouches, and lay both tablets flat, side by side, in the bottom of the tin. Set the tin on the floor where the air is blowing. With your goggles and respirator on, add cold tap water up to the fill line, then get out right away and shut the door. Don’t open the door to check on it.

Step 3: Air it out. After 50 minutes, open all the doors and let the vehicle air out for at least a minute before you reach in. Carefully remove the tin, pour the leftover liquid down a sink drain with the water running, rinse the tin, and toss it in an outside trash can.

Tip: Find the fill line before you add water. It’s a black or red marker line inside the tin, in the second groove. A light chlorine smell afterward is normal and fades in a day or so; leave the windows down and park in the sun for a few hours to speed it up. Heavy tobacco smoke may need a second treatment.
